Redline Home Guard were tasked with patrolling at Didcot Railway Centre over the three-day early May Bank Holiday weekend. Saturday and Sunday the sun shone bright, Monday the weather was slightly more inclement but the platoon kept up their patrols with the tenacity and grit expected of them.
The crowds were out in force for Didcot Railway Centre’s 1940s weekend and The Redline was kept busy patrolling the site, giving bayonet drill demonstrations and checking passengers on the trains, all whilst keeping an eye out for any invaders. We were joined for the weekend by a Home Guardsman from Norfolk who turned out to be a jolly good egg and fitted in with the boys admirably.
We have to thank Didcot Railway Centre for inviting us and for looking after us so well. We look forward to returning in the near future.
If you would like to get involved contact us about joining.
