Promotion in the Redline Ranks

Report by Sgt Quigley

With more volunteers stepping forward to join our ranks, the platoon has continued to grow in both numbers and strength. With that growth comes the need for additional responsibility within the ranks, and we recently found ourselves in the fortunate position of being able to promote one of our Privates to Lance Corporal.

The decision had been made some time ago, but was kept firmly under wraps until our last parade night when, much to his surprise, Pte M. Gleave was named as our chosen man to take on the role. During the parade, he was formally presented with his Lance Corporal’s stripe by 2/Lt Chambers, marking his step up into the platoon’s NCO ranks.

L/Cpl Gleave being presented with a certificate of recognition of his promotion by 2/Lt Chambers.

Since joining the platoon, he has proved himself to be a reliable and enthusiastic member of the unit, always willing to get involved and lend a hand where needed. His promotion recognises that contribution while also giving him the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the platoon continues to develop.

I very much look forward to working alongside L/Cpl Gleave in his new role and am confident that he will make a valuable difference to the smooth running of the platoon, supporting both our NCOs and fellow members as we continue to grow and move forward.

Three cheers for the new Lance Corporal…
…and cheers from him!
