The Redline at Henley Traditional Boat Festival

On Saturday 20th July Sgt. M. Quigley and Pte. M Gleave of the 5th Oxfordshire (Henley) Battalion were joined by their wives at the 45th Henley Traditional Boat Festival, at Fawley Meadows, Henley-on-Thames.

Henley Traditional Boat Festival

This popular, long-running event, with attractions on the water, in the air and on the land, featured the largest fleet of Dunkirk “Little Ships” ever to attend the event, plus the largest display of traditional boats in Europe, amphibious and military vehicles, aircraft of the Great War Display Team and one of our brave boys performed a fly-by in a Hurricane.

Redline Home Guard patrolled the river front, ever vigilant against nefarious agents whilst watching for any suspicious activity, even utilising a handy Ferris wheel to gain a vantage point.

It was lovely to see the Dunkirk “Little Ships” and other traditional craft on the river, and also a small fleet of amphibious vehicles sail past. Many thanks to the Berks And Oxon Military Vehicle Enthusiasts for the invitation to the event.
