On Saturday 15th June BRX1 members of Redline Home Guard were in attendance at Wallingford Carnival. A field command position was established on the carnival site, with a Vickers machine gun and Bren gun on anti-aircraft duties, along with the individual weapons of the group.
Three members of the group, Sgt Quigley, Pte Fothergill and Pte Gleave, formed a bicycle patrol to keep the carnival parade safe and help collect funds for local charities whilst Cpl Tierney and 2/Lt Chambers manned the command position.
The group was very well received with many members of the public interested in our display and we heard stories of family members who served in the home guard and the memories of servicemen and women of their time in duty.
