On our latest training evening, we were treated to a fascinating presentation by recent recruit Private Martin, who shared his extensive knowledge of World War II British radio equipment. Drawing on his impressive personal collection, he provided an engaging and informative session that left everyone thoroughly impressed.
Pte Martin’s talk delved into the vital role of communications during the war, explaining how the equipment was used by soldiers on the front lines and by the Home Guard on the home front. His demonstration included iconic pieces such as the No. 18 and No. 19 sets, among others, with a hands-on exploration of how these radios operated under wartime conditions.
The evening was not just informative but also interactive, as Pte Martin showcased the intricate workings of his collection and shared anecdotes about their history.
